The version of Lockdown Browser available in Rutgers Canvas and Sakai is different than the version from Rutgers Blackboard. If you need to use Lockdown Browser to take an exam or quiz in both Rutgers Blackboard and Canvas/Sakai, then you will need to install two versions of the application on your computer. The directions below assume you have the Blackboard version already installed on your computer
Respondus Lockdown Browser + Monitor. Lockdown Browser is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment in Canvas. Monitor is an additional feature that may be used in conjunction with Lockdown Browser. Monitor requires students use a webcam to record their testing session. Instructors may review Monitor videos following student exams. BigBlueButton – Built into Canvas as Conferences and designed to be a virtual classroom. Recordings are available for 14 days. Login (through Canvas) BBB's Help page; Campus Support; Online Proctoring. Respondus Lockdown Browser - LockDown Browser 'locks down' the browser on a computer or tablet. Students are unable to copy, print, access. Respondus provides tools that facilitate online exam creation and the assessment proctoring management solutions Lockdown Browser and Monitor. Faculty can download and install Respondus 4.0, a Windows-based tool for creating and managing exams that can be published directly to Canvas or published.

- Follow the directions to download and install Lockdown Browser.
- Select the option for a second institution.
- Click Next.
- In your Windows menu, you will now see two versions of Lockdown Browser.

Does Canvas Have A Lockdown Browser
- Navigate to your Applications folder.
- Locate your existing copy of Lockdown Browser.
- Right-click to show the mouse menu.
- Click Rename.
- Rename the application to include version (Blackboard).
- Follow the directions to download and install Lockdown Browser. You may opt to rename the second version for Canvas.
